Eventually, the search of Kunstverein Schattendorf for the perfect room was met with success. Located on the ground floor, the room is almost part of the entrance. Through its glass, a perspective is given from outside the building as well as from inside. Without the room, the whole building is most likely to topple over, however, it is not a real room. The words “Ballast” and “Palast” are written on the freshly printed invitations coloured pale green. The Kunstverein wants to draw attention to its upcoming exhibition and therefore collaborates for this and other purposes with the artist Thomas Laubenberger-Pletzer. Arrows out of his hand point in one direction and then, quick as a flash, in another. The works of Laubenberger-Pletzer, his signs and his typical small letters, are here, but due to the various possibilities of how to stack the frames, only the ones on top are visible. And only the artist himself or a catalogue can give further information. Thus, there are German words like NOT or LOT hidden at some place in the stacks that look like architecture. Words that are embedded in sentences like AUS DEM LOT or IN DER NOT.

words: Siggi Hofer / Kunstverein Schattendorf

note: Ballast - burden, baggage, deadwood; Palast - palace; Lot - perpendicular, plumbline; Aus dem Lot - out of balance; Not - need, misery, distress; In der Not - if need be
